Fourteen serving officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) have been cleared for induction into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), following approval by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

The development comes after the UPSC, during its two-day meeting held in New Delhi on April 23 and 24, 2026, cleared the induction of 14 serving JKAS officers into the IAS. The remaining nine vacancies pertaining to retired JKAS officers will be carried forward to the next year.

Official sources said the General Administration Department (GAD) of the J&K administration has received a communication from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) seeking the consent of the 14 officers for their induction into the IAS.

The consent is being sought as some of the officers may choose not to opt for induction into the All India Service, sources said.

“The communication states that 14 JKAS officers have been cleared for induction into IAS and their consent may be sent to the MHA and DoPT for issuance of a formal notification and allotment year of induction to the officers,” the sources said.

Among the officers cleared for induction are Muneer-ul-Islam, Babila Rakwal, Shabnam Kamili, Rachna Sharma, Leena Padha, Rajinder Singh Tara, Tariq Hussain Ganai, Sajjad Hussain Ganai, Anoo Malhotra, Nitu Gupta, Prediman Krishen Bhat, Bhawani Rakwal, Smita Sethi and Anuradha Gupta.

The formal induction and allocation of the respective year of allotment will follow after the officers convey their consent and the requisite notification is issued by the competent authorities.
