Sixteen girls belonging to financially weaker families received marriage assistance kits during a programme organised by Khidmat Foundation Baramulla at Jadeed Eidgah on Sunday.
The programme sought to ease the financial burden on families struggling to meet the expenses associated with marriage arrangements.
Besides providing material assistance, the programme sought to promote a sense of dignity, community solidarity and shared responsibility towards vulnerable families.
Speakers at the event said that financial constraints can place considerable pressure on families, particularly those with limited resources.
They stressed that community-based initiatives can help reduce this burden while ensuring that deserving families receive assistance without compromising their dignity.
They also called for greater awareness against extravagance in marriage ceremonies, urging people to keep weddings simple and avoid unnecessary expenditure.
Such an approach, they said, could help families avoid financial hardship and encourage a culture of compassion and mutual support.
General Secretary, Khidmat Foundation Baramulla, Mudasir Naqshbandi, said the Foundation would continue to stand with families facing financial difficulties.
“A conscious mind cannot remain aloof from the problems faced by underprivileged families. We are committed to helping our sisters,” Naqshbandi said.
He said the objective of such programmes was to ensure that lack of financial resources did not become a barrier for families seeking to arrange marriages for their daughters.
“The aim of such events is to ensure that no sister in our society remains without a wedlock just because she has no resources,” he said, appealing to people to support humanitarian initiatives.
The Foundation, a non-political social welfare organisation, has been involved in various welfare activities, including educational assistance, medical support, food and ration distribution and financial aid to deserving individuals and families.
The organisers expressed gratitude to donors, volunteers, religious scholars and other supporters, saying continued community participation was essential to expand such initiatives and reach more families in need.
