Srinagar, Sep 28: Authorities in Kokernag on Monday advised the general public to refrain from visiting the sinkhole that appeared in Gohihard village of south Kashmir.
In a public advisory issued by the Office of the Tehsildar, Kokernag, it was stated that a sinkhole appeared in Gohihard village on September 27, 2026.
“For the safety of the general public and to ensure that the concerned government agencies can work without any hindrance caused by the gathering of crowds at the said spot, it is advised that the general public refrain from visiting or gathering at or around the sinkhole until remedial measures are put in place to declare the spot safe again,” the advisory reads.
Meanwhile, locals said another sinkhole has appeared in the Brengi Nallah at Gohihard, Kokernag, near the location where a sinkhole had occurred earlier.
They said the latest sinkhole has developed slightly downstream from the previous spot. (GNS)
