Mirwaiz said remembrance of death should not lead to fear or despair but should encourage humility, self-correction and a greater sense of responsibility.

He called upon people to examine their conduct, make amends for wrongs committed against others, fulfil the rights of family members and fellow human beings, and stay away from hatred, jealousy, bitterness and unnecessary disputes.

Expressing concern over growing materialism and weakening social bonds, Mirwaiz said people often become so absorbed in worldly pursuits that relationships, compassion and concern for others are neglected.

He stressed that wealth, status and position are temporary, while a person’s character, conduct and treatment of others carry lasting significance.

Mirwaiz particularly urged people to resolve family disputes, strengthen relationships with parents and relatives, support the poor and vulnerable, and seek forgiveness from those whose rights they may have violated.

He said society could become healthier and more compassionate when individuals develop a habit of self-accountability and recognise that every action carries responsibility and consequences.
