Bhadohi, Oct 6: Ferozson Exports Pvt. Ltd., led by Director Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad, has been honoured with the “Navshristi 2026 – Excellence Award for Innovative Design Pattern” for its hand-knotted carpet at the 50th India Carpet Expo – Golden Jubilee Edition in Bhadohi.

A statement here said that the award recognises the company’s work in combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design and innovation in the handmade carpet sector.

The winning entry was evaluated by a distinguished jury comprising experts and academicians from leading institutions, including IIT Delhi, the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and the Indian Institute of Carpet Technology (IICT).

The entries were assessed on parameters including creativity, innovation, design excellence and craftsmanship.

Several companies representing different carpet-producing regions of India were also honoured under various categories of Navshristi 2026, highlighting the diversity and design capabilities of the country’s handmade carpet industry.

The award was presented in the presence of Mukesh Kumar Gombar, Chairman, Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC), and Prof Dr R.K. Varshney, Director, IICT.

Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad, Director, Ferozson Exports Pvt. Ltd. and Alkhuddam Group, said the award was a proud moment for the company and an encouragement to continue innovating while preserving traditional craftsmanship.

He said the recognition would further encourage the company’s efforts to blend traditional Kashmiri carpet-making skills with contemporary design and innovation, while strengthening the global presence of Indian handmade carpets.

The 50th India Carpet Expo, being held as the Golden Jubilee edition, brings together manufacturers, exporters, designers and buyers from the handmade carpet sector and provides a platform for showcasing India’s diverse weaving traditions and contemporary design capabilities.
