Srinagar, Oct 9: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered the transfer and posting of 100 IPS and JKPS officers across the Union Territory with immediate effect, effecting changes in the leadership of several police formations, district establishments, specialised wings and armed police battalions.
The transfers have been ordered through Government Order No. 499-Home of 2026, issued by the Home Department on October 9, in the interest of administration.
Under the order, Danesh Rana, IPS, has been appointed Managing Director of the J&K Police Housing Corporation, while Garib Dass, IPS, has been posted as ADG Homeguards, Civil Defence and SDRF. Rayees Mohammad Bhat, IPS, has been shifted to DIG CID Headquarters, J&K, and several officers have been reassigned to district police and specialised units.
The reshuffle also covers appointments in the Traffic Police, Crime Investigation Department, Railways, Security, Special Operations Group, Anti-Narcotics Task Force, Civil Defence, SDRF, police training institutions and Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police battalions.

Shahid Mehraj Rather, IPS (AGMUT: 2009), who was awaiting posting, has been appointed IG Technical Services, J&K, against an available vacancy. He will continue to hold the additional charge of Director, Police Telecommunications, J&K, until further orders.
