JAMMU, Feb 27: A meeting of the Sanatan Dharam Sabha (SDS), South Kashmir, was convened today in Jammu to deliberate on various pressing issues concerning the protection, preservation and maintenance of temples and shrines across South Kashmir.
The meeting was chaired by the President of Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Shri Ashok Kumar Sidha, and witnessed the participation of Presidents, General Secretaries and representatives of several temple and shrine committees from the region.
Representatives from Martand Tirath Trust; Kheer Bhawani Asthapan, Manzgam; Vitasta Devsathan Prabandhak Committee, Verinag; Temples and Shrines Prabandhak Committee, Tral; Shiv Mandir, Newa Pulwama; Vijeshwar Devsathan Trust, Thajwara; Shiv Mandir, Nai Basti; Ganeshpora Tirath Trust; Papharan Nag–Karkut Nag Trust, Salia; Vinayak Prabandhak Committee, Wanpoh; Chandrabhawan Prabandhak Committee, Dever Tral; Shiv Shakti Asthapan, Akura; Tirath Raj Kapal Mochan, Shopian; Shivala Mandir Dharam Sabha, Hugam; Anantnag Prabandhak Committee; and MCBST, Chowgam were present during the deliberations.
During the meeting, members expressed serious concern over the condition and safeguarding of their respective shrines, emphasising the need for immediate attention and intervention by the Government. The representatives unanimously reaffirmed their full confidence in and support to Sanatan Dharam Sabha as the apex body and committed themselves to strengthening it as a unified and robust platform for the promotion of Sanatan Dharma.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Ashok Kumar Sidha assured members that every possible effort would be made to safeguard and preserve all temples and shrines in South Kashmir. He stressed that collective dedication and sustained commitment are essential for protecting and promoting Sanatan Dharma.
He also appreciated the efforts of the Director, Archives, Archaeology & Museums, Shri K. K. Sidha, and expressed gratitude to the Government of India for sanctioning substantial funds for the preservation and restoration of temples and shrines in the Kashmir Valley.
The proceedings commenced with a welcome address by the General Secretary, Pt. R. K. Bhat. Convenor of Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Shri Kuldeep Raina, along with other members, acknowledged the recent felicitation of Shri Ashok Kumar Sidha by the Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch in Delhi and appreciated his social contributions.
Among other prominent members present were Dr. Tej Krishan Dhar, Shri Roshan Lal Teng, Advocate C. L. Bhat, Dr. Ramesh K. Bhat, Shri Sanjay Tickoo, Shri Chaman Lal Bhat, Shri Inder Krishan Raina, Shri Mohan Lal Comrade, Shri Piyara Lal Bhat, Shri Avtar Krishan Pandita, Shri Sanjay Pandita, Shri B. L. Dhar, Nana Ji Dhar, Shri Avtar Krishan Koul, Shri B. K. Wantoo, Shri Omkar Nath Bhat, Shri Naresh Raina, Shri Virender Mohan Bhat and several other distinguished members.
