New Delhi, Mar 26: Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, on Tuesday unveiled Malabar Gold & Diamonds’ ₹200 crore Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives for the financial year 2026–27 at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre.
On the occasion, the minister also inaugurated the distribution of educational scholarships for 33,000 girl students across India. The event was attended by Malabar Group Chairman M.P. Ahammad, Managing Director (India Operations) O. Asher, Executive Directors Nishad A.K. and Abdulla Ibrahim, Kerala House Resident Commissioner Puneet Kumar, Pratham Education Foundation CEO Rukmini Banerji, and Thanal Chairman Dr. Idris, among others.
Addressing the gathering, Goyal said the initiatives of the Malabar Charitable Trust align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of empowering girls through programmes such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. He noted that the Rs 200 crore CSR commitment would further strengthen inclusive growth, emphasising that India’s progress is rooted in the empowerment of its people, particularly women and youth.
The minister also encouraged students to aspire high and actively contribute to the country’s development journey.
Malabar Group Chairman M.P. Ahammad highlighted that human resource development remains central to national growth, stressing that investment in education enables long-term societal transformation. He reiterated the group’s commitment to sustainable and impactful CSR interventions.
For FY 2026–27, the group will implement CSR projects across more than 3,000 locations in 19 states, covering 15 major initiatives and benefiting over two lakh people.
