Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday strongly condemned objectionable remarks made against Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s daughter, asserting that “no insulting remark against any daughter will be accepted.”
Addressing a public gathering in Azamgarh, the Chief Minister said an FIR was registered immediately after the matter came to his notice.
He stressed that every daughter deserves respect and urged political leaders to ensure their supporters maintain decorum in public discourse. “Akhilesh Yadav advises others, but he should also advise his followers to keep their language restrained,” Adityanath Yogi said.
The Chief Minister was speaking after inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for 39 development projects worth over ₹955 crore in the district. During the event, he also announced that a grand equestrian statue of Maharaja Suheldev would be installed at Maharaja Suheldev University and directed officials to prepare a plan to convert the old jail premises into a convention centre.
Highlighting the government’s development initiatives, Adityanath said Azamgarh had witnessed major infrastructure growth over the past few years, including improved road connectivity, an operational airport, the Purvanchal Expressway, and support for local industries such as black pottery and the saree sector through the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme.
The Chief Minister also reiterated his government’s commitment to women’s safety, warning that strict action would be taken against anyone who compromises the security of women, grabs land belonging to the poor, or extorts traders.
Referring to Maharaja Suheldev’s legacy, Adityanath said New India would not accept symbols of slavery and highlighted the construction of a grand memorial dedicated to the warrior king in Bahraich. Several ministers, legislators and BJP leaders, including former MP and Bhojpuri actor Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirahua’, were present at the event.
