Kupwara, Jun 19: A Pakistani national who had crossed the Line of Control (LoC) into north Kashmir’s Kupwara district was repatriated to Pakistan after security agencies completed a detailed inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his entry.
According to official sources, the individual was apprehended by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police during a joint operation near Simari village in the Karnah sector after he crossed the border under suspicious circumstances.
Following his detention, security agencies conducted a thorough investigation to ascertain the reasons behind the border crossing and to verify whether he had any links to hostile activities or posed a security threat.
After the completion of the inquiry and necessary verification procedures, the individual was handed back to Pakistan through the established repatriation mechanism along the LoC, sources said.
The Pakistani national had been detained on June 12 during a joint operation launched based on specific intelligence inputs. Security forces intercepted him near the LoC before any potential security breach could occur.
Officials said standard operating procedures were followed throughout the investigation before facilitating his return across the border.
