In a statement issued on the eve of Independence Day, the Office of the Senior General Manager, BSNL Business Area Srinagar, said the initiatives reaffirm the public sector telecom operator’s commitment to a digitally self-reliant India and seamless connectivity in the border region.

BSNL said it has operationalised 4G Saturation Towers under the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) project, while additional towers have been brought on air under the Phase IX.2 expansion scheme. The network expansion covers several remote and tourist areas, including Keran, Machil, Tangdhar, Narnag, Doodhpathri, Aharbal, Toshmaidan and Gurbatan.

The telecom major said work was also underway on newly proposed sites to bridge remaining communication gaps and extend connectivity to uncovered areas.

As part of its Independence Day initiatives, BSNL has also announced a range of subsidised satellite communication, broadband and mobile recharge offerings for government establishments, public safety agencies and consumers.

Under its satellite communication initiative, BSNL is offering satellite phone infrastructure at ₹1,34,166, excluding taxes, for government and public sector organisations. The service is intended to provide critical communication support to defence forces, disaster response teams, high-altitude engineering operations, border patrols and adventure tourism activities in remote areas where conventional telecom connectivity may be limited.

BSNL has also introduced a new ‘Fiber Super Plus OTT’ broadband plan for residential and office users at a fixed monthly charge of ₹1. Under the offer, available until September 12, 2026, new subscribers can obtain a SIM card along with 1GB high-speed data per day, 100 SMS per day and unlimited voice calls for 24 days.

BSNL has also extended its JK-20 Mega Annual Plan. Priced at ₹2,398, the plan offers 2GB high-speed data per day, unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day.

Customers recharging under the scheme before September 12, 2026, will receive an additional 47 days of validity, taking the total validity to 412 days.

BSNL Srinagar also advised customers to use the BSNL Self-Care application and the BSNL CYMN portal for online booking of vanity numbers.

The telecom operator extended Independence Day greetings to citizens and said the expansion of indigenous telecom infrastructure would help strengthen digital connectivity in remote and strategically important parts of the region.

The statement was issued by Muzafar Ahmed Beigh, Assistant General Manager and Head of Sales and Marketing, BSNL Business Area Srinagar.
