Lolab gets 10 water supply schemes worth Rs 35.64 Cr

Kupwara, Oct 6: Ten major water supply schemes worth Rs 35.64 crore were inaugurated across the Lolab constituency on Tuesday, with the projects expected to improve drinking water supply to 5,662 households.

J&K Jal Shakti Minister Javed Ahmad Rana inaugurated the schemes through virtual mode, while MLA Lolab Qaysar Jamshaid Lone was physically present at Lolab during the programme.

The schemes, implemented under Jal Shakti PHE Division Kupwara, cover several villages and are aimed at addressing long-pending drinking water requirements in the constituency.

The projects include WSS Khabutho Dar Mohalla at Rs 1.08 crore, WSS Dever Anderbugh at Rs 3.50 crore, WSS Gangbugh at Rs 3.77 crore, WSS Krusen at Rs 4.67 crore, WSS Walkhul at Rs 4.25 crore, WSS Gadwadh at Rs 0.92 crore, WSS Kawari Harden Sever at Rs 3.79 crore, WSS Mergi at Rs 0.90 crore, WSS Gundmancher at Rs 2.95 crore and WSS Surigam-Wavoora-Bon-Maindanpora at Rs 9.81 crore.

Together, the schemes will cater to households in Maindanpora, Dever Anderbugh, Sogam, Krusen, Tekipora, Sever Thendipora, Rekh Muchwari, Rakhi Gundmancher, Surigam and Wavoora.

Speaking virtually on the occasion, Minister Javed Ahmad Rana said ensuring clean and adequate drinking water for every household was a priority of the government. He said the schemes would help address persistent water shortages in several villages of Lolab.

MLA Qaysar Jamshaid Lone expressed gratitude to the Jal Shakti Minister for his special focus on Lolab and support for strengthening drinking water infrastructure in the constituency.
