Jammu, Oct 17: Ankur Maitrika Hospital, in collaboration with Johnson & Johnson, organised the GALOP Preceptorship Programme in Gynaecological Laparoscopic Surgery, aimed at enhancing surgical skills and promoting advanced minimally invasive gynaecological procedures among medical professionals across Jammu & Kashmir.
The programme, as per a statement, featured advanced laparoscopic gynaecological surgeries performed by Dr Ajay Wakhloo, Director of Ankur Maitrika Hospital and a renowned Gynaecological Laparoscopic Surgeon. The initiative provided participating gynaecologists with an opportunity to observe advanced surgical procedures and gain practical insights into modern laparoscopic techniques. The programme was attended by several medical professionals, including Dr Humera Noor, Dr Mudasir Ahmad Dar of GMC Baramulla, Dr Imtiyaz Ahmad Ganaie of SKIMS Medical College, Dr Shazia of GMC Srinagar, Dr Meenakshi Rana of GMC Kathua, and Dr. Shazia Jeelani of GMCH Baramulla.
The preceptorship programme was designed to strengthen the practical knowledge and surgical competencies of participating doctors, enabling them to develop and expand laparoscopic gynecological surgery services at their respective institutions.
Laparoscopic surgery, a minimally invasive approach, can offer several benefits to eligible patients, including smaller incisions, reduced blood loss, less postoperative pain and faster recovery, depending on the procedure and individual clinical circumstances.
By facilitating specialised training and knowledge-sharing among gynecologists, the initiative aims to improve access to modern surgical techniques and help patients across the region receive advanced treatment closer to their homes.
The programme marks a significant step towards strengthening medical education, promoting surgical excellence and expanding access to minimally invasive gynaecological care across Jammu & Kashmir.
