Srinagar, Oct 22: The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps, in collaboration with the Pritam Spiritual Foundation (PSF), organised medical camps for people with disabilities at Uri and Zangli Garrison in Kupwara from October 12 to 22.
The camps provided specialised assistance to beneficiaries from Kupwara and adjoining areas, with 14 artificial limbs fitted, 250 hearing-impaired persons assisted and 258 assistive devices and appliances distributed free of cost.
The initiative was also supported by Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), which partners in providing assistive devices and mobility support to people with disabilities.
According to the Defence Ministry, the camps aimed to improve the independence and quality of life of beneficiaries by providing access to essential assistive equipment and specialised support.
The Army said such humanitarian initiatives were part of its efforts to support local communities and strengthen ties with people across Jammu and Kashmir.
The camps concluded on October 22.
