A one-day solo painting exhibition by renowned artist and National Award-winning painter Rouf Qayasi was organised in Sopore by the Karwaan Art Mission in collaboration with SRM Welkin School Sopore, bringing together artists, poets, writers, students, and art lovers to celebrate creativity and the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir.
The exhibition was inaugurated by former Director of Prasar Bharati and Patron of Adbi Markaz Kamraz J&K, Dr Rafeeq Masoodi, in the presence of prominent artists, literary figures, educationists, and students of SRM Welkin School.
The event witnessed an enthusiastic response, with visitors appreciating the artist’s unique style and thought-provoking collection of paintings.
The artworks displayed at the exhibition reflected a wide range of themes, including Kashmir’s natural beauty, cultural traditions, human emotions, and contemporary social realities. Visitors praised the depth, creativity, and artistic expression evident in each painting, describing the exhibition as an inspiring visual journey.
Addressing the gathering, self-taught painter Rouf Qayasi spoke about his artistic journey, saying that passion, perseverance, and continuous learning have been the driving forces behind his success.
He encouraged young artists to pursue their dreams with dedication and to use art as a powerful medium for expressing ideas, preserving culture, and promoting peace and harmony.
Dr. Rafiq Masoodi, while addressing the gathering, expressed delight at witnessing the enthusiasm and creativity of the budding artists from SRM Welkin School, Sopore, particularly the young female artists who showcased remarkable talent through their artwork.
He said it was encouraging to see the younger generation embracing art with such passion and originality.
Emphasising the value of genuine creativity, Dr. Masoodi remarked that “real art is real, while Artificial Intelligence itself carries the word ‘artificial’ in its name,” underscoring that true artistic expression stems from human imagination, emotions, and lived experiences that cannot be replaced by technology. He encouraged students to continue nurturing their creative abilities and contribute to society through meaningful artistic expression.
Speakers on the occasion lauded Rouf Qayasi’s remarkable contribution to the field of art and congratulated him on bringing national recognition to Sopore through his work.
