Srinagar, July 2: The Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB) on Friday issued an advisory urging pilgrims to undertake the Amarnath Yatra 2026 only after completing advance registration and to strictly adhere to their allotted travel dates.
The advisory comes in view of the daily cap on the number of pilgrims permitted on the yatra route, as directed by the Supreme Court, to ensure the safety of devotees and the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
Authorities said advance registration was opened well before the commencement of the yatra through designated bank branches across the country as well as online platforms, allowing most pilgrims to complete the process in advance.
However, they cautioned that Tatkal (on-the-spot) registration slots are extremely limited and cannot accommodate the large number of unregistered pilgrims arriving in Jammu and Kashmir.
“All pilgrims are requested to reach Jammu and Kashmir only after completing their advance registration. It is not possible to accommodate thousands of pilgrims under the Tatkal facility,” the advisory said.
The administration also noted that some registered pilgrims have been arriving before their scheduled travel dates.
“No pilgrim will be permitted to undertake the yatra before the date mentioned in their registration. Pilgrims are requested to travel only on their allotted date,” it said.
Unregistered pilgrims already in Jammu and Kashmir have been advised to wait for their turn and follow the registration process prescribed by the administration.
The authorities assured devotees that every registered pilgrim would be given an opportunity to undertake the pilgrimage, subject to the prescribed daily capacity and safety guidelines.
Pilgrims have also been urged to maintain order and cooperate with the administration to ensure the safe and hassle-free conduct of the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath.
