Pattan, Oct 16: A decade without macadamisation has left Baramulla’s Divar-Yakhmanpora road riddled with potholes, making daily travel difficult for commuters and residents of Singhpora Pattan and adjoining areas.
Residents said the road’s deteriorating condition had made commuting increasingly difficult, with even Sumo drivers reluctant to ply on the stretch.
“We have been travelling on this road in the same condition for nearly ten years. We face a lot of difficulties because of the large potholes, and even Sumo drivers refuse to ply on this road due to its poor condition. Travelling on this stretch has become a major problem for local residents,” residents said.
The road serves as an important link connecting Pattan, Singhpora and adjoining areas with Sumbal in Bandipora district and parts of Ganderbal district. Its poor condition has become a daily concern for people relying on the route.
“The entire stretch is in a deplorable condition, with potholes spread across the road. It has become extremely difficult to travel, especially for those using this route daily. We request the concerned authorities to take immediate action and macadamise the road before its condition deteriorates further,” another resident said.
The residents urged MLA Pattan, the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department and Deputy Commissioner Baramulla to intervene and ensure macadamisation of the entire stretch without further delay, saying urgent repairs were essential to ease commuters’ hardships and improve connectivity.
