Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) leaders and workers led by UT president Tariq Hameed Karra on Monday took out a protest rally in Jammu city against the registration of an FIR against the Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi by the Uttarakhand government.
Congress leaders alleged that the FIR was registered against Gandhi for his opposition to the Haldwani incident. Similar protest rallies were organised at district levels.
Senior leaders of PCC, DCC Jammu urban and rural, frontal wings protested at Shaheedi Chowk Jammu on Monday evening raising slogans against Modi government and BJP for lodging, what they alleged, “malicious FIR against Rahul Gandhi over the issue of insult to Dalits especially Congress president Malikarjun Kharge.”
Accompanied by JKPCC working president Raman Bhalla, chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, former minister and DCC Jammu urban president Yogesh Sawhney, DCC rural president Jammu Rural Neeraj Kndan, ex-MLC Incharge HQ Ved Mahajan and others, JKPCC chief said that Rahul Gandhi was not afraid of another FIR as there were already 36 FIRs registered against him.
He alleged, “FIR is a message that those who highlight or speak for action against the atrocities over Dalits or Dalits who speak against injustice to them would face action against them by the BJP government and those committing atrocities or injustice would be glorified or encouraged.”
