Srinagar, Oct 24: For young golfer Essa Bin Arsheed, golf is more than just a sport. It is a way to stay fit, develop skills and aspire to greater achievements.
Arsheed participated in the invitational Labaika Cup Golf Tournament 2026 at the Royal Springs Golf Course (RSGC), Srinagar, joining young and experienced golfers in the event.
Speaking on the sidelines of the tournament, Arsheed said golf had a positive impact on physical fitness and could also offer opportunities for recognition and success.
“Golf is very good for our body and it also increases our fitness,” he said, adding that he hoped the sport would bring him success and respect in the future.
Arsheed said his interest in golf began at an early age, with his father playing a key role in encouraging him to take up the sport. He started playing in the early years of his schooling and has since participated in two to three tournaments, including one in Pahalgam and others in Srinagar.
The young golfer said he also plays with his father, whose encouragement has helped him continue pursuing the game.
Arsheed expressed hope that more golf tournaments would be organised in the future, providing young players with opportunities to gain experience, improve their skills and compete against golfers of different age groups.
