Srinagar, Sep 30: The Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations in India (FFFAI) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industries Kashmir (CCIK) on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening logistics and export facilitation for businesses in Jammu and Kashmir.

The MoU was signed at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar in the presence of Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, who attended the event as the chief guest.

The collaboration seeks to facilitate customs-related services and logistics support for exporters within Jammu and Kashmir, potentially reducing the need to route consignments through other states for completing export formalities.

As part of the initiative, FFFAI plans to establish facilitation counters in Srinagar and Anantnag to assist exporters with customs clearance and related logistics services. CCIK has also sought an additional facilitation counter in Baramulla to cater to exporters from North Kashmir.

The initiative is expected to benefit exporters in sectors including horticulture, agriculture, floriculture and handicrafts by reducing logistical delays and transportation costs.

CCIK President Tariq Ghani said the partnership would help strengthen the region’s export infrastructure and improve access to logistics and customs-related services.

The signing ceremony was attended by CCIK office-bearers, including Senior Vice President Hussain Khan, Junior Vice President Imran, Joint Secretary Aatif Khan, Convenor Umar Jan Wani, Chief Coordinator Ashiq Bhat and Youth President Zubair, besides executive members.

FFFAI Chairman Amit Kamat led the federation’s delegation, accompanied by senior office-bearers and members.
