Rajouri, Jul 24: While Rajouri town and its adjoining areas witnessed comparatively fair weather with only light rainfall during the morning hours, several upper reaches of the district experienced moderate to heavy showers for a couple of hours on Friday.
The worst-affected areas included Sunderbani sub-division of Rajouri district, parts of Reasi district, and Akhnoor sub-division of Jammu district, where heavy rainfall from morning till afternoon disrupted normal life and affected day-to-day activities.
The incessant rain also impacted vehicular movement on the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch National Highway.
Minor landslides occurred at several locations between Bhambla and Chowki Choura, leading to brief suspension of traffic during the day as debris blocked portions of the highway.
Officials said road clearance teams were immediately pressed into service, and traffic was restored after the accumulated debris was removed.
