If Aga Ruhullah Quits NC, He Will Leave Alone, Says Javed Rana

Jammu, October 31: Jammu and Kashmir Minister Javed Ahmed Rana on Saturday dismissed speculation about internal differences within the National Conference (NC), asserting that the party would remain united even if MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi decided to quit.

Speaking to reporters in Jammu, Rana said Ruhullah’s departure would not affect the party or its organisational strength.

“If Aga Sahib decides to leave, he will leave alone. Why would his departure affect the party? The organisation will remain united,” Rana said.

Rejecting reports of discontent following the recent cabinet expansion, the minister maintained that both the National Conference and the Omar Abdullah-led government remained strong.

He expressed confidence in the party’s leadership under Dr Farooq Abdullah, saying the organisation stood united despite speculation about internal differences.

Rana acknowledged that some legislators might be disappointed after being left out of the Council of Ministers. He said the limited number of ministerial positions meant that not every MLA could be accommodated.

“Every MLA wants to become a minister, but the available positions are limited. Naturally, there may be disappointment among those who could not become ministers,” he said.

Expressing hope for the early restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, Rana said the move would pave the way for the appointment of additional ministers.

“Insha’Allah, statehood will be restored very soon and more ministers will also be appointed,” he added.

The minister’s remarks come amid speculation over political differences within the National Conference following the recent cabinet expansion.
