A one-day conference was organised by pensioners Welfare Federation senior citizens civil society at Sumbal Sonawari District Bandipora.
The event brought together esteemed leaders and dedicated members to address the welfare concerns of pensioners and senior citizens across the Union territory of J&K.
The conference graced by the esteemed presence of Gh Mohiuddin Bhat, General Secretary of J&K pensioners welfare federation senior citizens civil society.
The other Trade Union leaders from Srinagar Gh Nabi Bhat Khanyari and From District Budgam Gh Hassan Khag Beerwah addressed the gathering of pensioners of Sumbal Sonawari at Dak bunglow Sumbal Sonawari.
In the welcome by the senior Trade Union leaders Haji Ghulam Rasool of Sumbal and Habib ullah and Assadullah Sumbal Sonawari extended greetings to the guests. The conference witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of adjoining areas of Sonawari. Ghulam Mohiuddin Bhat highlighted the demands of Pensioners urging the government to redress the grievances of pensioners are being paid Rs 300 as Monthly Medical allowance, whereas the pensioners ofUT of Ladakh are drawing Rs 1000, and demands parity in this regard. Other demands raised included issuance of senior citizens cards duly signed by District Magistrate backed by a circular from J&K Govt. GAD for its implementation in letter and spirit. Provisions of Waqat House (Senior citizens Welfare Centre) for pensioners at all district levels in the UT of J&K.; Enhancement of pension from the age of65 yrs instead of 80 years; Release of pending dues leave salary, gratuity etc without further delay.
The State President was in Jammu and could not attend the conference in person due to closure of National Highway but addressed the gathering through video conference.
