Jammu, Oct 20: Positioning Basohli as a destination for water sports, the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council organised a high-profile demonstration of rowing, kayaking, and canoeing on Tuesday at the Water Sports Complex during the ongoing Basohli Utsav 2026.
As per a statement issued, the spectacle drew a large gathering of sports enthusiasts, local residents, and visitors.
The smooth and professional execution of the aquatic demonstrations was facilitated by dedicated sports council coaches.
This showcase forms part of the J&K Sports Council’s broader strategy to nurture local athletic talent, and foster constructive youth engagement across the Union Territory.
A team Officers from JK Sports Council including Sports Officer Central, Divisional Sports Officer with expert coaches remained closely associated with the event under overall supervision of Secretary JK Sports Council.
On the occasion Secretary J&K Sports Council Tazayun Mukhtar (JKAS) said that ” through initiatives like at Basohli Utsav 2026, our endeavor is to introduce local youth to professional water sports like rowing, kayaking, and canoeing.”
She further added that J&K Sports Council remains steadfastly committed to building modern athletic infrastructure, providing world-class coaching, and creating regular competitive platforms across Jammu & Kashmir to empower our young athletes to excel at national and international levels.
