Season 2 of the Khyber Cement Kashmir Super League (KSL) will get underway Friday evening at the TRC Ground, Srinagar, with United Elegant FC taking on Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC in the opening fixture.
The match, as per a statement, is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. under lights, setting the stage for another season of competitive franchise football in Jammu & Kashmir.
Powered by Athwas Retail and Athwas Hyundai, the Kashmir Super League enters its second season after a successful inaugural edition that generated significant fan interest and digital engagement across the region.
The opening clash will see United Elegant FC and Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC become the first two sides to take the field in the six-team tournament, with both franchises aiming to begin their campaign on a winning note.
The second fixture on Saturday will feature Athwas India XI FC against Sanctorum North United FC, while New JK United FC will face Swift Strikers FC Rainawari on Sunday. All three opening-round matches will be played at 6:30 p.m. at the TRC Ground.
The second edition features six franchise teams — United Elegant FC, Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC, Athwas India XI FC, Sanctorum North United FC, New JK United FC and Swift Strikers FC Rainawari — who have assembled their squads following an intensive player bidding process.
Around 200 footballers participated in the Season 2 player bidding, with the six franchises competing to secure players for their respective squads. The process provided local footballers with an opportunity to earn places in a professionally structured and competitive franchise league.
With all six squads now finalised, the franchises have turned their attention to the field as they chase the KSL championship.
Season 2 is aimed at taking the league to another level by providing players with a stronger competitive platform while bringing quality football closer to supporters across Jammu & Kashmir.
The league has also received support from a number of sponsors and partners, including Events Emporio, Nivia, NITIans Career Institute, Labaika Hajj & Umrah, Amul and J&K Sports Council.
The organisers express gratitude to the J&K Sports Council, franchise owners, team managements, coaches, players, match officials, volunteers, sponsors and supporters for contributing to the growth of the competition.
With the squads picked and the opening fixture now just hours away, the second season promises to add another chapter to the region’s growing football culture.
