Amid persisting orange alert across Jammu for two days, the weather department has predicted isolated heavy rains with thunder storms, lightning and gusty winds for the entire Jammu region, with the possibilities of landslides, shooting stones and flash floods at vulnerable places on September 1 and 2.

During the next 24 hours, as per weatherman, there will be isolated heavy falls in Jammu division while there will be fairly widespread light to moderate rain coupled with thunderstorms in the subsequent two days.

As per India Meteorological Department (IMD) Centre, parts of the division may witness spells of showers with gusty winds during late night on Monday, August 31. “In Jammu division, during the intervening nights of August 31-September 1 and September 1 and 2, there is possibility of heavy spell particularly in Jammu, Kathua districts and adjoining areas. Rajouri-Poonch areas too may witness a spell or two of isolated moderate to heavy showers during next 24 to 48 hours,” the weatherman predicted.

“There are chances of heavy showers in Jammu division with the possibility of mudslides, landslides and flash floods at higher and vulnerable places. After September 2, there will be improvement in the weather. Till September 10, there are no chances of major events,” the Met department has anticipated.

The weather conditions would continue to be hot and humid amid scattered spells.

The maximum temperature in Jammu is likely to swing between 31 to 33 degrees Celsius, amid hot and humid weather conditions.

After September 15, according to the weatherman, the temperature is likely to witness a significant fall.
