Kulgam/Anantnag, Oct 3: The Mission Green in Schools campaign reached South Kashmir on Saturday with programmes at Moin Educational Institution in Qaimoh, Kulgam, and Smart Kids School in Achabal, Anantnag, promoting waste segregation, composting and sustainable practices among students.
The programmes featured Green Talks and the Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA) Conclave, with organisers calling for waste segregation at source in every educational institution and home composting as a household practice.
Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo, chairman of the Moral Education Environment and Relief Council (MEERC), said the campaign was aimed at turning environmental awareness into daily action.
He called for Green Talks in every educational zone of Jammu and Kashmir and urged schools and institutions to adopt waste segregation and composting.
PSAJK President Dr Baba Nazr-ul-Islam stressed the need for waste segregation at home and urged children to become ambassadors of sustainability.
Wangnoo said green commitments must be reflected in everyday practices, rather than remaining limited to awareness programmes.
He was accompanied by PSAJK State Organiser Majid, Kulgam District President Altaf Malik, Anantnag District President Isfaq Ahmad and district executive members, including Suhail Ahmad, Hilal Ahmad, Khursheed Ahmad Thokar and Khursheed Ahmad Wani.
