Mission YUVA takes entrepreneurship drive to Bhaderwah’s remote meadows

In a first-of-its-kind initiative, Mission YUVA (Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan) organised a Tribal Udyam Jagriti Camp in the high-altitude Jaie meadow of Bhaderwah, taking entrepreneurship awareness and government support to nomadic tribal communities living in remote mountain pastures.

The camp, held at an altitude of around 7,850 feet above sea level, marked Mission YUVA’s maiden outreach programme for the nomadic population residing in the high-altitude meadows of the region.

Officials of Mission YUVA, accompanied by representatives of various banks, travelled to the remote location to create awareness about self-employment opportunities, entrepreneurship and government-backed financial assistance.

Around 75 members of the tribal community, including nearly a dozen women, participated in the camp. The participants came from the high-altitude meadows of Jaie, Fuqlaan Dhar, Kainthi, Bach Dhar, Ganthak and Laloo-Paani.

The programme aimed to take entrepreneurship guidance, financial literacy and information about government welfare and credit-linked schemes directly to aspiring entrepreneurs living in otherwise inaccessible areas.

Mission YUVA Coordinator Mehran Ahmed said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to reaching every section of society and enabling people to become self-reliant. He said the programme was organised in a remote area with virtually no communication facilities to ensure that residents of far-flung regions also benefit from schemes of the Central and J&K governments.

“Mission YUVA is committed to ensuring that no aspiring entrepreneur is left behind because of geography. Our objective is to reach every individual and provide them access to opportunities that can help them establish sustainable livelihoods,” he said.

Lambardar of the Gujjar tribal community at Jaie welcomed the initiative, saying it was for the first time that senior officials of Mission YUVA and banking institutions had visited their doorstep to educate residents about entrepreneurship and easy loan facilities.

He expressed hope that the initiative would encourage tribal youth to explore self-employment opportunities and help address unemployment in the community.

Mission YUVA, launched to promote entrepreneurship and self-employment among the youth of J&K, seeks to connect aspiring entrepreneurs with skill development, financial assistance and institutional support. The initiative is aligned with the broader vision of promoting self-reliance and inclusive economic development by extending government services to even the most remote and underserved areas of the Union Territory.
