Chairman of the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO), Manzoor Wangnoo, was honoured with the People’s Environmental Ambassador Award at the Global Leaders’ Conference, Srinagar 2026, organised by Edufam International Academy.
The conference, as per a statement, brought together renowned personalities from across the world as well as distinguished participants from Kashmir representing different walks of life. The conference focused on three themes of growing relevance: Sustainable Education, Sustainable Business and Sustainable Health.
The speakers at the conference highlighted the need to integrate sustainability into education, business practices and healthcare, stressing that sustainable development requires collective responsibility and practical action.
Wangnoo said he was deeply humbled to receive the recognition and expressed his gratitude to Edufam International Academy and Dr. Halima Sadia for the honour.
“Such recognition is humbling because environmental work is ultimately about responsibility towards our communities, our natural heritage and future generations. I accept this award with gratitude and as a reminder to continue doing whatever little we can for our environment,” Wangnoo said.
He also appreciated the organisers for bringing together eminent personalities and creating a platform for meaningful discussion on issues that are increasingly important to society.
He congratulated the Edufam International Academy and its team for organising the conference and for placing sustainability at the centre of discussions on education, business and health.
The recognition adds to Wangnoo’s continuing environmental engagement through NLCO, particularly in community-led conservation, restoration of water bodies, springs, plantation, environmental awareness and promotion of responsible environmental practices.
