Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday intensified his attack on the Centre over the NEET paper leak and the ongoing CJP-led student protests, saying there had been 154 examination paper leaks in the past decade but “not a single conviction”,
Targeting the government over the police action against protesters, Rahul Gandhi questioned the use of force on students and reiterated his demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
“The question is why is this happening to students. What exactly have they done? Thousands of them. To have security forces aiming weapons at them. What have they done? They are protesting peacefully. They are asking for what this country owes them,” The Indian Express quoted Gandhi as saying.
According to PTI, Gandhi said the Opposition’s demands were “non-negotiable” and that opposition leaders would meet on Thursday to decide the future course of the agitation.
“The government wants to push this under the carpet, but we want that Pradhan goes, the Prime Minister apologises and the education system changes,” he said.
Referring to injuries he sustained during Tuesday’s protest, Gandhi told reporters, “It’s a huge honour to be able to express the will of the people. Happy to take many more,” adding, “I am used to getting punched. My job is to express the will of the people; these are small costs,” PTI reported.
