Kupwara, Oct 3: The District Administration Kupwara has accorded administrative approval for the construction of Jabdi Bijaldara House at Bagbhella in Karnah at an estimated cost of Rs 1.02 crore under the District Capex Budget 2026-27.

The project, estimated at Rs 102.26 lakh, will be executed through the R&B Division Tangdhar.

The facility is aimed at providing relief to residents of Jabdi Bijaldara and adjoining areas, which remain cut off from the tehsil headquarters for several months during winter due to heavy snowfall.

The prolonged disconnection causes particular hardship to residents, patients and students, making access to basic services difficult.

MLA Karnah Javid Ahmad Mirchal welcomed the approval and thanked the district administration for addressing the long-pending demand of the people of Jabdi Bijaldara.

Local residents also welcomed the decision, saying the project raised hopes of easing the difficulties faced during the harsh winter months.

Once completed, the facility is expected to benefit residents of the remote area during the prolonged winter disconnection.
