Srinagar, Sep 28: Health and Medical Education Minister Sakeena Itoo on Monday hit out at the BJP during the Assembly debate over the resolution on greater autonomy, recalling that several BJP leaders had been present in the House when a similar resolution was passed in 1996.
Itoo said BJP leader Shiv Charan Gupta was present in the House at the time, while Salathia too had been present and voted for the resolution.
“Shiv Charan Gupta sahib was present in that House at that time. Salathia sahib was himself present at that time and had voted for this resolution,” Itoo said.
She also referred to Chaudhary Pyara Singh, saying he had been a member of the House in 1996 and had voted for and helped pass the resolution.
“Chaudhary Pyara Singh ji was present in this very House in 1996, who voted for that resolution and got that resolution passed,” she said.
Itoo further said the brother of BJP member Shyam Lal, Madan Lal, had also been present in the House when the resolution was passed.
“Therefore, they only know how to create noise. Otherwise, practically, they know everything, they know everything,” she said.
Her remarks came amid a heated debate in the Assembly over the resolution on greater autonomy, with BJP members opposing the move. Itoo also urged the Speaker not to entertain attempts by members to address the press gallery during the proceedings.
