Speaking after taking oath as a minister in the Omar Abdullah-led government, Saifullah said he was delighted to have been inducted into the Cabinet and described the appointment as the fulfilment of a long-standing aspiration.

“I am very happy that I have become a minister today. It was a long-standing aspiration of mine, and I have received the ministry I deserved,” he said.

Saifullah thanked Allah and the party leadership for the opportunity, saying he would strive to live up to the confidence placed in him.

“My leadership trusted me and placed its faith in me. Now, I will try to live up to that trust, work for the prosperity and development of Jammu and Kashmir, and strengthen the party,” he said.

Asked about the portfolio he would handle, Saifullah said the decision had not yet been communicated to him.

“It is up to the Honourable Chief Minister to decide which portfolio he wants to give me. Whatever he assigns to me, I will work on it,” he said.

On the expectations of people and the need to address their grievances, Saifullah said resolving public problems was among the objectives of the Cabinet expansion.

“That is precisely why the Cabinet expansion has taken place. If people have grievances or are facing difficulties, the purpose of this expansion is to resolve their problems and help them,” he said.

He added that the government would endeavour to work in accordance with people’s needs and aspirations.

“Inshallah, we will try to work according to people’s aspirations and needs,” Saifullah said.
Emphasising the need to accelerate development in Jammu and Kashmir, he said every sector required attention.

“Development in Jammu and Kashmir is very important. We need development in every respect and in every sector. Inshallah, I will be at the forefront of these efforts,” he said.

Asked about reports of resentment among some party leaders over the Cabinet expansion, Saifullah declined to comment, saying, “I will not say anything on this matter.”
