Baramulla, Oct 6: Director Sericulture J&K and Visiting Officer for Vibrant Villages Programme-II (VVP-II), Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, undertook a two-day field visit to the border villages of Shahdara and Ghallan in Sub-Division Uri to assess developmental needs and review implementation of ongoing interventions.

During the visit, Bhat reviewed basic infrastructure, public amenities, connectivity, service delivery and livelihood opportunities, besides identifying areas requiring greater inter-departmental coordination and administrative attention.

He visited Government High School Shahdara, Government Boys Middle School Jabda and Government Boys High School Ghallan, where he assessed educational infrastructure, availability of basic amenities and other developmental requirements. He also interacted with teaching staff and took note of issues affecting the institutions and surrounding communities.

A key component of the visit was interaction with local residents, Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) representatives, community members and other stakeholders. Bhat sought first-hand feedback on government services, infrastructure, connectivity, livelihood and employment opportunities and implementation of VVP-II interventions.

He assured residents that the issues raised would be documented and taken up with the concerned departments for necessary action. He stressed that VVP-II should result in visible and tangible improvements in the quality of life in border villages.

Bhat subsequently reviewed the progress of VVP-II interventions with representatives of various line departments and directed them to ensure effective coordination, regular field monitoring and time-bound execution of approved works.

He also called for updated records of field-level progress, proper coverage of eligible beneficiaries under government schemes and clear department-wise action plans to address the gaps identified during the visit.

He emphasised that sustained inter-departmental coordination, responsive administration and regular engagement with local communities were essential to achieving the objectives of VVP-II and accelerating socio-economic development in border areas.
