Bolstering its security grid, Jammu Railway Division, in the wake of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, has intensified its drive to enhance facilities to ensure safe and smooth travel for pilgrims and make pilgrimage a blissful experience.
“Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM), Jammu Railway Division, Uchit Singhal is personally reviewing all special arrangements put in place for the passengers, particularly the pilgrims, and issuing necessary instructions to officers to further improve facilities,” said Raghvender Singh, Public Relations Inspector, Northern Railway, Jammu Division.
At Jammu Railway Station, Railway officers and supervisors, Singh informed, were continuously monitoring security and all other arrangements.
“Passenger safety is the top priority, for which RPF and GRP personnel are deployed 24×7 inside the station premises. Ticket checking staff are conducting regular patrolling along with GRP and RPF to prevent any untoward incident. To ensure security, the entire station is under 24-hour surveillance through CCTV cameras installed in the war room, covering every nook and corner. Special attention is also being given to punctuality vis-a-vis schedule of trains. In case of any delay, passengers are being informed immediately through the Public Announcement System and SMS,” Singh elaborated.
For the convenience of pilgrims, according to him, help desks and Information centres have been set up at the station where all travel-related information and guidance is being provided.
“Adequate drinking water arrangements have been made on platforms, and additional sanitation staff have been deployed to maintain cleanliness. The first-aid centre is functioning round the clock to deal with any emergency. Important announcements related to trains and the yatra are also being made at regular intervals so that passengers receive timely and accurate information,” he informed.
Senior DCM Uchit Singhal, while describing, “Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra” as “a symbol of faith and devotion”, maintained, “We are continuously monitoring the situation and additional arrangements will also be made as required. It is the commitment of the Jammu Railway Division that every pilgrim who comes here completes his or her journey safely and with dignity.”
He asserted that all officers, supervisors, RPF and GRP teams were working day and night to facilitate passengers, including pilgrims.
“Our aim is that every passenger gets all necessary facilities from entry to departure at the station. All devotees are requested to follow railway announcements to make their journey comfortable. For any assistance, they can contact Rail Madad 139 or the Help Centre located at the station,” Singhal said.
Meanwhile, considering the increasing number of pilgrims arriving for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 and for darshan at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Jammu Railway Division has decided to attach a third AC coach temporarily to Jammu-New Delhi Rajdhani Express.
“This augmentation vis-à-vis Jammu Rajdhani Express, in the form of additional coach, will be made from July 17 to 20, 2026. With this arrangement, passengers will be able to get confirmed seats easily and their journey will become more comfortable and convenient,” Singh stated.
All passengers have been requested to check their reservation status before travelling and to avail the benefit of this additional coach while booking tickets.
