Anantnag, Oct 28: Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat on Wednesday directed all concerned departments to ensure elaborate arrangements for the ‘Run for Unity’ on October 31, urging people from all sections of society to participate in the event.
Chairing a meeting of district officers at Dak Bungalow, Khanabal, the DC stressed the need for close inter-departmental coordination and timely completion of preparations to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
Commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the ‘Run for Unity’ aims to promote national integration, patriotism and the values of unity and brotherhood.
The DC said the event holds national significance and called upon officers to discharge their assigned responsibilities efficiently. He directed them to maintain close liaison and ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place well in advance.
He said such initiatives provide an opportunity to reaffirm the collective commitment to the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country.
The meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Superintendent of Police, Superintending Engineer, Public Works Department, Sub-Divisional Magistrates and heads of various departments, besides other concerned officers.
