A delegation of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Jammu & Kashmir, led by its Chairman Iqram Ali Shafiee, called on Harvinder Singh, Director, Mission YUVA, to discuss collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening youth entrepreneurship, industry-ready skilling and employment opportunities across the Union Territory.
The delegation included Ufair Kitab, Convenor, CII Skills Panel, and Khurshid Dar, Director, CII.
During the meeting, both sides explored avenues for building a structured partnership to promote entrepreneurship, enhance employability and bridge the gap between industry requirements and workforce capabilities. Discussions focused on leveraging the strengths of CII and Mission YUVA to create meaningful opportunities for the youth of J&K.
The CII delegation proposed establishing a mentorship framework under which experienced entrepreneurs and industry leaders from the CII network would guide aspiring entrepreneurs and startups supported by Mission YUVA. The proposal aims to provide young entrepreneurs with practical industry insights, business guidance and market exposure.
The meeting also discussed jointly organising awareness programmes across Jammu & Kashmir to expand outreach on Mission YUVA’s entrepreneurship schemes, financial assistance, capacity-building initiatives and support services, while leveraging CII’s extensive industry network to connect with aspiring entrepreneurs.
Harvinder Singh appreciated CII J&K’s proactive role in promoting entrepreneurship and strengthening industry engagement in the Union Territory. He welcomed the proposals presented by the industry body and expressed confidence that closer collaboration between Mission YUVA and CII would help build a robust, industry-responsive entrepreneurial ecosystem.
He also expressed willingness to work closely with CII on mentorship, skill development and joint awareness initiatives to equip young people with the skills and support needed to pursue entrepreneurship and employment opportunities.
