Ramban, Aug 5: Deputy Inspector General of Police, DKR Range, Sargun Shukla, chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Ramban to assess the security arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026, review preparedness for the forthcoming Independence Day celebrations, and discuss security measures for other major events in the district, official sources said on Wednesday.
Brigadier Ajay Pal Singh, Commander, 11 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, attended the meeting as the special invitee.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of the Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), J&K Police, Traffic Police, Zonal and Sector Officers deployed for SANJY, besides representatives of intelligence agencies.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, Arun Gupta, welcomed the participants and briefed the gathering on the agenda for the meeting.
The officers held detailed deliberations on intelligence inputs, anti-militancy operations, security along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), night domination measures, review of camp security, the modus operandi of recent terrorist attacks, security arrangements for the Independence Day celebrations, and coordination mechanisms among various security and intelligence agencies.
Addressing the meeting, DIG Sargun Shukla stressed the need for maintaining a high level of alertness, ensuring round-the-clock area domination, and strengthening the counter-infiltration grid in vulnerable gap areas. He also directed all agencies to remain vigilant and proactive in view of the ongoing pilgrimage and the upcoming national celebrations.
The DIG underscored the importance of seamless coordination and synergy among the Army, CAPFs, Police, intelligence agencies, and the Civil Administration to ensure the peaceful and smooth conduct of SANJY-2026, Independence Day celebrations, and other major events in Ramban district.
