Jammu, Oct 18: Drawing inspiration from the life and ideals of Bhagwan Shree Rama, National Conference Additional General Secretary and former minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra Sunday called for harmonious growth of society based on compassion, duty, righteousness and mutual respect, saying these timeless values are essential for building an inclusive and progressive society.
Participating as the Chief Guest at a Ram Leela function, which was organized by Prabhu Vandana Natak Club, Janipur, Ward No. 37 in Jammu North Assembly Constituency, headed by Mohan Lal Gill President, Sadhotra said Lord Rama’s life teaches society that righteousness is rooted in compassion, sacrifice, duty and respect for every human being.
As per a statement issued, he said these values acquire even greater significance in the present times when social harmony and inclusiveness are vital for the progress of society.
Sadhotra said Ram Leela a is not merely a cultural or religious celebration but also an opportunity to reflect upon the values that have guided generations.
The message of Lord Rama, he said, is one of truth, justice, duty and compassion, which remains relevant to every section of society. He said the real strength of a society lies in its ability to care for one another, respect differences and ensure that no one feels excluded from its journey of progress. “Lord Rama represents the highest ideals of righteousness, duty and compassion. His life reminds us that power carries responsibility and that the welfare of others must remain at the heart of our actions,” Sadhotra said.
He emphasised that development cannot be measured merely in terms of infrastructure, economic growth or material prosperity. True progress, he said, comes when development is accompanied by social justice, equal opportunities and dignity for every individual.
Sadhotra said a harmonious society provides the strongest foundation for sustainable development. Differences of opinion and diversity are natural, but they should never become reasons for hatred, hostility or division, he added.
He called for strengthening the spirit of mutual respect and understanding, saying that compassion should guide public conduct and righteousness should remain the basis of individual and collective responsibility.
The former Minister particularly called upon the youth to draw inspiration from the ideals associated with Lord Rama and contribute towards creating a society based on honesty, discipline, responsibility and concern for others.
He said festivals and cultural traditions have an important role in bringing people together and strengthening the bonds that hold society together. Ram Leela, he added, provides a valuable opportunity for communities to come together and celebrate values that transcend social and economic differences.
Sadhotra appreciated the organisers, Director and Actors, above all local residents for preserving the tradition of Ram Leela and creating an atmosphere where people could participate in the celebrations with enthusiasm and devotion. He said Jammu has a rich tradition of social and cultural harmony and called upon people to preserve and strengthen this legacy. “Let the life of Lord Rama inspire us to choose compassion over hatred and harmony over division. This is the path to a stronger, more inclusive and progressive society,” Sadhotra said.
