Srinagar, Sep 23: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president and former chief minister Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday expressed grave concern over detention of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sisters for standing up for their brother’s freedom, and urged the saner voices in the establishment to speak out against such “arbitrary use of power”.
She said though Pakistan is the chief mediator of peace between war-torn Iran and America, is showing little tolerance for dissent at home.
“It is deeply distressing that Pakistan, which is the chief mediator of peace between war torn Iran and America, is showing such little tolerance for dissent at home. Detaining Imran Khan’s sisters for standing up for their brother’s freedom is deeply troubling. I hope the saner voices in the establishment will speak out against such arbitrary use of power and that the sisters will be released soon,” former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti said on X.
