Young Pulwama-based writer Mir Muzamil on Monday launched his book, ANT: A Philosophy of Human Existence, at the Sher-I-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC), Srinagar.
The book employs the ant as a philosophical metaphor to examine themes of human existence, struggle, purpose, perseverance, resilience and humanity’s relationship with the wider world. Through an accessible narrative, the author draws parallels between the insect’s discipline, collective effort and survival instincts and the complexities of human life.
The launch was attended by writers, intellectuals and members of the literary community. Among those present were Dr. Shafi Shauq, Padma Shri awardee and Sahitya Akademi Award-winning poet, writer and linguist; Bashir Ahmad Naik, Managing Director and CEO of Al Noor Group; writer and educationist Raaz Rafiq Dar; author Shabir Ahmad Mir; entrepreneur Abdul Gani Mir; and Islamic scholar Nisar Attari.
Speakers lauded the young author for choosing an unconventional subject and using the image of an ant to explore deeper philosophical questions about identity, purpose and existence. They said the work encourages readers, particularly the youth, to reflect on fundamental aspects of life through a simple yet powerful metaphor.
The event also highlighted the growing contribution of young writers from Pulwama to Jammu and Kashmir’s literary landscape, with speakers expressing hope that the book would inspire more young people to pursue literature and critical thought.
According to the author, ANT: A Philosophy of Human Existence is available in more than 150 countries, giving the work an international readership.
The ceremony concluded with felicitations for Mir Muzamil and best wishes for his future literary endeavours.
