Srinagar, Oct 11: Rohit Sharma delivered a decisive performance with the ball, claiming five wickets for 36 runs to help Jammu and Kashmir bowl out Madhya Pradesh for 196 on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy campaign on Sunday.
The right-arm seamer bowled 21.2 overs, including eight maidens, and maintained an economy rate of 1.69 as he troubled the Madhya Pradesh batting line-up.
His spell came at a crucial stage after the visitors had lost three wickets for 41 runs but attempted to rebuild through captain Shubham Sharma, who scored 79, and Chanchal Rathore, who made 33.
Rohit’s breakthroughs, combined with Sunil Kumar’s four-wicket haul, ensured Madhya Pradesh could not convert their recovery into a bigger total.
With J&K looking to defend their Ranji Trophy title, the performance offered an encouraging start to their bowling campaign at home.
