Director Social Welfare Mohammad Akbar Khan said the four buildings were constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 11.27 crore, while another Rs 1.10 crore had been earmarked for roads, parks and other allied infrastructure.

Itoo said the facilities would provide care, shelter and support to vulnerable sections of society and stressed the need for safe and dignified living conditions for their residents.

She said PLASH was intended to support orphaned children without adequate livelihood support, while the Old Age Home would cater to destitute elderly persons without homes or family support.

The minister assured children at PLASH that their requirements would be addressed on priority. She said demands for a gymnasium, recreational park, improved road connectivity and an ambulance would be taken up at the earliest.

Earlier, Anantnag East MLA Reyaz Ahmad Khan projected several demands, including upgradation of the Nursing College at Aukura, widening of the Aukura-Aung road, a science laboratory and smart classrooms at HSS Nanil, and improved infrastructure and adequate medical and paramedical staff at the Nanil hospital.

Itoo assured that the issues concerning the respective departments would be examined for appropriate action.

The function was attended by DG ICDS Sajad Ahmad Ganie, Deputy Director Social Welfare, CMO Anantnag, CEO Anantnag, BMO Mattan and other senior officers and officials.
