Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Cooperatives and Elections Javid Ahmad Dar  announced a major crackdown on the sale and movement of unlicensed pesticides in Jammu and Kashmir, saying checkpoints would be established at entry points to prevent such products from entering the Union Territory.

Dar said the government would take strict measures against the sale and use of unlicensed pesticides, stressing that the move was aimed at safeguarding the agriculture sector and protecting farmers from potentially harmful products.

Talking to reporters at Sopernaghama in the Qaziabad area of Kupwara, Dar also spoke about the National Conference (NC), describing it as a strong political party with deep and firm roots.

He dismissed attempts to weaken the party, saying that the NC was a movement and that the departure of individuals would not dent its strength.

“NC is a movement, so anyone who leaves the party cannot dent it. Instead, they are destined to lose,” he said.

Earlier, Dar inaugurated the newly constructed Block Development Council (BDC) building at Sopernaghama, Qaziabad, in Handwara.

The building has been constructed at a cost of ₹97 lakh and is aimed at strengthening the institutional infrastructure for local development and governance in the area.

MLA Langate Sheikh Khursheed and Director Rural Development Riyaz Ahmad Wani were also present on the occasion.
