Srinagar, Oct 24: Bharti Airtel has partnered with YouTube to bring YouTube Premium to its prepaid customers, expanding its entertainment offerings with ad-free viewing, background play, offline downloads and access to YouTube Music Premium, subject to applicable terms and conditions.
The partnership aims to cater to changing mobile consumption habits, as customers increasingly use smartphones to watch videos, follow creators, stream music and discover digital content.
With the addition of YouTube Premium, Airtel is expanding its entertainment portfolio, which already includes Prime Video, JioHotstar, ZEE5 Premium, SonyLIV and more than 18 other OTT platforms.
The YouTube Premium benefit is available through Airtel’s ₹200 OTT top-up, which also provides an additional 30GB of data. The bundle brings together streaming services, music and video entertainment with mobile data in a single offering.
According to Airtel, the initiative is aimed at providing prepaid customers with greater value beyond connectivity by combining premium digital entertainment with additional data.
The company said the offering reflects how customers increasingly use mobile internet for a range of activities, from watching shows and movies to viewing short-form videos and listening to music.
Under the arrangement, Airtel prepaid customers with an active recharge can purchase the OTT top-up across existing prepaid plans. After purchasing it, customers can claim YouTube Premium through the ‘Rewards & OTTs’ section of the Airtel app.
The entertainment benefits will remain valid for 28 days, in line with the top-up’s validity. After expiry, customers can purchase the top-up again and reclaim the YouTube Premium benefit if they wish to continue using the service.
