The Jammu & Kashmir Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian has strongly condemned the action of the authorities in preventing its President, Hujjatul Islam wal Muslimeen Aga Syed Hassan Al-Mosavi Al-Safavi, from travelling to Tehran to attend the funeral ceremonies of the martyred Rahbar-e-Muazzam, Hazrat Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei (RA).
In a statement issued by the Spokesperson of Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian, it was stated that Aga Syed Hassan was scheduled to depart for Tehran today, 2 July, on Mahan Airways Flight W5070 from Indira Gandhi International Airport, Terminal-3, New Delhi, in response to an official invitation extended by the concerned authorities in the Islamic Republic of Iran to attend the funeral ceremonies of the late leader.
The spokesperson stated that officials of the Bureau of Immigration stopped Aga Syed Hassan at the airport, reportedly seized his passport and prevented him from boarding the flight despite his possessing all the requisite travel documents. No explanation or written order was furnished to justify the action, the statement said.
Describing the incident as arbitrary, unjustified and deeply condemnable, the spokesperson said that preventing a senior religious leader from undertaking a peaceful religious visit without assigning any valid reason is a matter of grave concern. The Anjuman termed the seizure of his passport and the denial of permission to travel as an unwarranted and unacceptable action that has caused widespread disappointment among his followers and the people, said a press release.
