The Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday held a wreath-laying ceremony at Panamik village in Nubra Valley near Siachen region.
The ceremony honoured 13 BSF mountaineers who died in an avalanche on Aug. 27, 1995.
They were attempting to scale Mount Saser Kangri in the Karakoram range.
Senior BSF officers, civil administration officials, security personnel, villagers and family members attended the ceremony.
BSF officers laid wreaths on behalf of the Director General. A contingent observed silence as buglers sounded the Last Post.
Representatives of three martyr families also paid homage.
The BSF also held a civic action programme. It distributed sports equipment and utility items among local residents and schoolchildren.
