Speaking on the occasion, organiser and international powerlifting champion Fardeem Hussain said that the championship was aimed at encouraging young people to adopt fitness as a way of life and stay away from harmful habits.
“Sports and fitness are powerful tools to channel the energy of young people in a positive direction. Through this championship, we want to inspire the younger generation to embrace a healthy lifestyle and understand that strength comes from discipline, hard work and dedication,” Hussain said.
Hussain further said that Kashmir possesses immense sporting talent and platforms such as the District Deadlift Championship help athletes showcase their abilities.
“Our aim is not only to identify and nurture talent but also to create a fitness culture across the Valley. We want more youngsters to spend their time in gyms, playgrounds and sports arenas rather than falling prey to drugs and other social evils,” he said.
