JSW MG Motor India has unveiled MG ADAPT (Advance Drive Architecture Platform Technology), describing it as India’s first Multi New Energy Vehicle (NEV) platform capable of supporting multiple powertrain technologies on a single modular architecture.
The platform is designed to accommodate Electric Vehicles (EVs), Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) and Range Extender Electric Vehicles (REEVs), enabling the company to develop a range of new-energy vehicles using a common intelligent platform.
According to the company, MG ADAPT has been engineered to improve flexibility in vehicle development while enhancing driving range, charging capability, efficiency, performance and safety.
The architecture is also intended to support future mobility technologies as the market evolves.
JSW MG Motor India Managing Director Anurag Mehrotra said the platform reflects the company’s strategy of offering customers multiple energy options without compromising on performance or driving experience. He said MG ADAPT would serve as the technological foundation for the company’s future portfolio of new-energy vehicles in India.
The platform incorporates an integrated hybrid technology ecosystem comprising a dedicated hybrid engine, battery system, a 10-in-1 intelligent electric drive unit and an electromagnetic hybrid transmission, all managed by an intelligent energy management system.
For REEV models, the electric motor drives the wheels while a petrol engine functions solely as a generator to recharge the battery, extending driving range and enabling an electric-first driving experience. The company said the platform is expected to accelerate its sustainable mobility roadmap in the Indian market.
