Srinagar, Oct 26: The Muslim Personal Law Board J&K has appointed Syed Khalid Geelani, Sajjada Nishin of Peer Dastageer (RA), Khanyar Sharief, to its executive committee and named five other members as part of an organisational restructuring exercise.
The appointments approved by the Board’s chairman and Grand Mufti J&K, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam Farooqi, and its Apex Committee, take effect immediately.
The statement reads that in pursuance of the organisational restructuring and strengthening of the Muslim Personal Law Board J&K, the following dignitaries and members are hereby appointed with immediate effect.
The names were submitted by PRO Syed Shabir Geelani and recommended for approval by Vice Chairman Syed Mohammad Aslam Andrabi. The appointments have been duly approved by Chairman and Grand Mufti J&K, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam Farooqi; Vice Chairman Syed Mohammad Aslam Andrabi; General Secretary Prof. M. Yaseen Kirmani; and the Apex Committee of Muslim Personal Law Board J&K.
The approved appointments are Syed Khalid Geelani — Sajjada Nishin, Peer Dastageer (RA), Khanyar Sharief to the Executive Committee, Syed Mudasir Geelani — Imam-o-Khateeb, Dastgeer Sahib (RA), Khanyar Sharief. Member, Syed Ahmed Rizvi — Member, Ganderbal, Syed Shahid Shafi Geelani — Member, Baramulla, Syed Javeed-ul-Hassan Bukhari — Member, Kupwara and Syed Akhtar Hussain Shah — Member, Anantnag.
All appointed members are expected to uphold the constitution, principles, and institutional objectives of the Board and contribute towards strengthening its organisational framework, promoting unity, and serving the religious, legal, and social interests of the Muslim community.
